
About Judge Jason Hanson
The Honorable Jason Hanson presides over the Village of DeForest and Village of Windsor Municipal Court. In addition, since 2006, he has been a Court Commissioner in Dane County Circuit Court, where he presides over family, small claims, criminal, traffic, ordinance violation, mental health, and restraining order cases. He previously served as an administrative law judge, an assistant district attorney, and a deputy district attorney. He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School and received a bachelor's degree with a double major in political science and history from the University of Wisconsin. He also studied electrical engineering at Marquette University.
Judge Hanson is the former President of both the Wisconsin Municipal Judges Association and the Wisconsin Family Court Commissioner's Association, serves on the Wisconsin state court system's Judicial Education, Records Management (Forms), and STOP Grant Committees, and has been on many statewide and local committees devoted to legal issues. As a prosecutor, he served on a legislative study committee, was a frequent lecturer at law enforcement and attorney training sessions, was often asked to serve as a special prosecutor in other jurisdictions, and handled all types of cases, from traffic citations to homicide cases, arguing cases at all levels from municipal court to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Judge Hanson and his family have lived in the Village of Windsor since 2003. He is active in the DeForest Lions Club and a number of other local clubs and activities.
